July 9, 2015 - Topeka USD 501 Board thanked members of the Topeka Downtown and Topeka South Rotary Clubs for their Sole Mate program, in which they provide shoes, socks and coats for needy children. During the past three years, Rotarians have purchased clothing for an estimated 1,500 children by partnering with schools to identify children in need.  An award was presented to each club.  Mark DeGroff accepted the award on behalf of the Downtown Topeka Rotary Club.

501 Board member Nancy Kirk said some Topeka families and children are facing difficult situations, and all help is appreciated.  “That’s just scratching the surface sometimes of the needs of our kids,” Kirk said. “That the community cares, too, is really important to us.”
